MHA Academic Staff for 2011-12


A strength of the MHA program is certainly our staff. From our Academic teachers to our athletic instructors, MHA has sought out the best available team to work with our student-athletes. Their dedication to the concepts of the program and to the betterment of the student-athletes is paramount.






Jon Greenwood


Jon Greenwood is an original member of the MHA staff  as a full-time teacher and on ice instructor since September 2007. He graduated from Saint Mary's University in 2004 with a B.A Degree, this was followed by a Bachelor of Education at the University of Maine at Fort Kent in 2007. 
Mr. Greenwood teaches at the junior high grade levels including Math, Social Studies, Science, and Leadership in addition to his role as Director of Hockey Development.
 

Joe Hines
 

Joe Hines returns for his 4th year at MHA and teaches the Grade 5/6 Class. Mr. Hines graduated from St FX University with his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees, later this was followed by a Certificate in Educational Administration through the Nova Scotia Department of Education. He holds a TC7 license through the province and spent 33 years teaching with the Halifax Regional School Board.


Malcolm MacKinnon

Mr. MacKinnon enters his 4th year at MHA and will be share teaching the grade 5/6 class with Mr. Hines. He is a graduate of the Nova Scotia Teachers College and Saint Mary's University. He has 39 years of experience with the Halifax Regional School Board.

Sarah White


Ms. White is in her 3rd year with MHA and is the home room teacher for the grade 9 class. She is also responsible for Language Arts for grades 7 through 9.  Sarah graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Education after obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Mary's University, where she attended on Scholarship for 4 years while playing for the Varsity Hockey and Field Hockey teams.  Her pre-university education included 2 years on academic and athletic scholarship to Westminster Private School in Simsbury, Connecticut. Ms. White is also an on ice hockey instructor at MHA.  




Mandy Roussel


Mme. Roussel is in her 2nd year with MHA and is the home room teacher for the grade 7 class. She teaches French to all MHA students as well as Science to the grade 7 class. She attended Mount Saint Vincent University for her undergraduate degree and received her Bachelor of Education from Acadia University.
