THE CONCEPT

Hockey and Sports are fun but they also offer benefits and lessons that carry over into all aspects of life. Sports are unique because they offer young people an arena where they can earn attention and respect by exerting their natural abilities. Kids who participate in sports, do better in school, have better interpersonal skills, are more team oriented and are generally healthier.
Our program builds upon the concept of athletic development through school. In many European Countries, hockey academies form the base of all hockey development. In Alberta and Western Canada, many such schools exist and are providing young people with an opportunity to receive individual skills training through school, while still participating in Minor Hockey. In Quebec, the Sport Etudes schools form an important part of the overall education system. We are proud to be the first Hockey Canada Skills Academy in Nova Scotia.
Maritime Hockey Academy enables Maritime athletes to receive the same opportunities as young players in other parts of the country. It gives young players a chance to become the best they can be.
