HOCKEY PROGRAM
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE HOCKEY PROGRAM INCLUDE:
- MHA is a designated Hockey Canada Skills Academy www.hockeycanada.ca/index.php?ci_id=7100&la_id=1
- On ice skill development three (3) days per week as part of the school curriculum
- Off ice skill development two (2) days per week as a part of the school curriculum
- Play on your current minor hockey team
- Experienced coaches with a track record of developing players
- Open to Boys and Girls entering grade 4 through 9
- Focus on individual offensive and defensive skill development
- Hockey Curriculum developed by experts in the area of skill acquisition
- Development of ‘hockey sense’ through the use of small area games
- Goaltender specific skill development
- Teach players to think the game
- Mental training
- Development of character through sports integrated into the school curriculum
- Players develop skills from the age of 9-16, the most important time for the acquisition of skill in young athletes
