MacKinnon Headed to Shattuck-St. Mary’sJun. 16, 2009
MHA is pleased to announce that Nathan MacKinnon has been accepted to attend Shattuck-St. Mary’s prep school in Minnesota. SSM is an excellent school with a prestigious academic program and a storied hockey history as well. Nathan will be playing on a Bantam Tier 1 Hockey Team that is made up of 1994 and 1995 athletes.
Nathan’s parents shared their perspective on the news, “As parents, we are extremely excited to see Nathan have this opportunity. Although he will be living away from home, it is very exciting to be able to open the door to attending a school where over 19 countries attend. Nathan will meet people from all over the world and undergo a personal growing experience that is being offered to him because of the sport of hockey. It is a very special opportunity.”
They added, “Nathan himself is very thrilled as well. He recognizes that this is a very special encounter that many athletes do not experience. Nathan loves all new opportunities through his hockey and really enjoys the "like minded" students he will meet in hockey. He is looking forward to playing on a new team, seeing a new school and experiencing the travel and friendships that result from this opportunity.”
The staff and faculty at MHA extend their congratulations to Nathan and wish him the very best as he moves on to Shattuck next year.
