The decision to enroll your son or daughter at Maritime Hockey Academy is not just about hockey, it is a total immersion program that gives each student-athlete the opportunity to learn skills to be successful at life. The most important aspect of MHA is the academic program that exists and the schooling each student-athlete receives.
The academic program at Maritime Hockey Academy consists of the core courses required for each student-athlete: Math, Science, English and Social Studies. In addition, French and Health classes are offered. Credit is given for the on-ice and off-ice portions of the hockey program in the areas of Physical Education, Human Performance and Hockey Skills, and each student-athlete is also enrolled in our Character Development Program.
The program is delivered using both in house and off-site classrooms as well as online learning resources. Whenever possible a player's learning plan is modified to encourage their individual growth and cultivate interests outside of hockey. Each player will have to make academics their first priority and strive to achieve marks at his or her highest academic potential, it is not sufficient to just get by. Academic success is monitored and reviewed with players and parents and this objective will be part of his or her goal setting for the year.
